Richard M. Ryan
President and Pilot
Captain Richard M. Ryan has been a pilot for 39 years. He served as a United States Navy Lieutenant during the years 1967 through 1972. He received the Navy Flight Instructor of the Year in 1970 and the NATOP Standardization and Evaluation Instructor Award. Mr. Ryan received a Bachelor of Arts Degree at St. Vincent College in 1967. He went on to earn his Masters of Business Administration at the University of West Florida in 1971.
During the years 1971-1975, Rich held positions with Westvaco in New York and Air Products and Chemicals in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
Rich's executive role in aviation started in 1976 when he became President of Corporate Jets, Inc. He successfully supervised the expansion of Corporate Jets from 16 employees and $500,000 in sales to 612 employees and $88 million in sales.
During his 18-year tenure, Rich altered the focus of the company from an airplane refueling facility to an international aviation company. He vertically integrated the aero medical support business by acquiring Helidyne Systems in 1984.
Rich successfully thrust Corporate Jets into the government contracting business by managing the aviation arm of the Bureau of International Narcotics, a Division of the State Department; the United States Air Force Europe Dart Tow Contract based on the Island of Sardinia; Federal Aviation Administration Support Contract in Frankfurt, Germany; The Justice Department's DEA Maintenance Contract; the U.S. Navy Flight Support Contract in Naples, Italy and the Mexican DEA (PGR) Support Contract in Mexico.
From 1995 to 2001, Rich has been active in the management and ownership of Aviation Management Services, Butler Air; and ExcelAire. In 2001, Rich became the President of Voyager Jet Center, LLC., and in 2002, he became Vice Chairman of Atlantic Aviation Flight Services, located in Teterboro, New Jersey.
Captain Ryan is an Airline Transport Pilot with over 8,100 hours of total time. He holds a First Class Medical and Type Ratings in the Learjet and Hawker-125. Rich together with his wife Lisa and son Richie reside in the Whitehall area.
