Timothy S. Shanower

Pilot

Captain Timothy S. Shanower has been a professional pilot for over 15 years. Tim graduated from Kent State University in 1992. After extensive security training, which included obtaining secret security clearance, he worked for a year as a security guard at a nuclear power plant -- all while keeping his lifelong love of flying active by remaining in flight instruction for the purpose of building flight time.

In 1996, he shifted his career focus to aviation by going to work full time for Gordon Air in Akron, Ohio. While at Gordon, he was captain on five different King Airs, three different Saberliners, and SIC in a Westwind flying Part 135 on-demand charter. In 1999, Tim moved on to Bombardier/FlexJet Aerospace where he began flying the Lear 31A and Lear 45. He spent five years flying the busy line at FlexJet. After departing FlexJet in 2004, Tim secured a position flying a Lear 45 based in the Cleveland area -- and has now joined the Voyager team flying the same aircraft.

With close to 7,000 accident and incident free hours under his belt, Captain Shanower brings the highest possible level of safety with him to Voyager Jet Center. Tim is type rated in the LearJet, Lear 45 and Saberliner -- along with holding First Class Medical, ATP and Flight Instructor ratings. He has occupied a number of management roles, including: Asst. Chief Pilot, Chief Pilot, as well as being FAA Industry Ops certified in Part 135 operations.

Tim was born and raised in Burton, Ohio where he continues to live today. In his spare time, he has built a cabin in NW Pennsylvania, enjoys working on his house, loves to play golf, and takes pleasure in flying a Bonanza which he owns with his father and brother.
