Gregory Himmer

Pilot

Captain Gregory Himmer is no newcomer to the transportation industry. After 15 years of operating the family steel hauling business, and 2 years of refractory construction management, he decided to transform his weekend hobby of hauling skydivers to altitude into a full time flying career.

Committed to this new challenge, Greg left Pittsburgh in the early 90's to accept a position with an air cargo company based in Orlando, Florida. There he trained to fly single pilot night IFR operations carrying time sensitive documents for various financial institutions. After completing ground and flight training in Florida, Greg soon transferred back north to spearhead operations at their newest domicile in Cincinnati, Ohio. Flying multiple legs in a variety of weather conditions between Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia was a tremendous learning and time building experience for the young captain.

Yearning to return to his hometown of Pittsburgh, Greg accepted a flying position with a Part 135 charter company just north of the city.

During his tenure, Greg flew several different model turboprops including King Air 90's, 100's, and Fairchild Metroliners.

With his never ending quest to expand his aviation experiences, Captain Himmer joined Voyager Jet Center in 2001 and jumped at the chance to upgrade in the Hawker Jet. He is type rated in the Hawker 125, Beechjet 400A, Challenger 604 and also holds an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate, as well as a First Class Medical. With six thousand hours of accident and incident free jet flying time, he's a versatile asset to the Voyager team.

Greg is a fitness enthusiast, and proud father of two sons. Zachary is a 16 year old lacrosse player and swimming competitor and John, a 27 year old welder in the Boilermakers union and former Lance Corporal in the Marine Corp.
